TITLE | Dewa Ganesha
Dewi Durga born her son, Ganesha, from her sweat. After giving birth, she took a bath, telling her new son to guard the door and allow no one in. Durgas Consort, Siwa, the god of the destruction, came home & Ganesha, not knowing who he was, refused him entrance. Not knowing this young upstart intruder, Siwa loped his head off. Durga appeared screaming the explanation. Siwa grabbed the nearest head, that of elephant, and stuck it on Ganesha. As an elephantine Dewa Ha became appropriately “the remover of obstacles” and “the keeper of the records of knowledge”.
