TITLE | Sita and Kijang Emas
Rawana enlisted his black magician, Mercia, in his plot to kidnap Sita. Mercia turned himself into a golden deer, “Kijang Emas”. When Rama, Sita and Laksamana were walking through the forest, enchanted by its beauty, Sita asked Rama to capture it for her, leaving Laksamana to guard Sita, Rama pursued the deer. When it enticed him further and further away, Rama grew suspicious and shot it with an arrow. The deer turned back into Mercia…who with his dying breath imitated Rama’s voice and called to Laksamana for help. Laksamana responded, at Sita’s demand, thus Rawana was able to abduct her.
